In a recent survey carried out by a popular beauty magazine, an astonishing 68% of people asked said that unsightly body hair was their biggest turn off in the opposite sex. Unwanted body hair has even been known to destroy a persons ability to lead a normal and happy life, with constant jibes about their appearance or even their own self-disatisfaction with hair removal problems causing distress.
Whilst it may not be possible to stop hair growth completely, thanks to new hair removal technology and the continuing introduction of creams and treatments, the control of that hair growth is now more practical. As cosmetic treatments go, hair removal is becoming a vey popular treatment for a growing number of men these days.
So. What methods of hair removal are there that can be used to help remove unwanted hair?
1. Shaving. By far the quickest, easiest and most affordable way to remove unwanted hair is shaving. The only downside to this method of hair removal is that the hair is not removed from the root so the effects are short lived. In order to maintain that hair free look, you need to shave everyday.
2. Waxing. Another common type of hair removal is waxing, where the hairs are pulled out from the roots using wax materials. As the hairs are pulled out from the roots, it normally takes about 4 - 8 weeks for new hair to grow back.
3. Electrolysis. This process prevents a hair's ability to grow back by destroying the root follicle with a mild electric current. Compared to other permanent hair removal solutions, this method is possibly the cheapest as treatments are usually charged by the minute.
4. Laser Hair Removal. As the most effective treatment for getting rid of unwanted hair, laser treatment is also the most costly. A single 15 minute treatment can be as much as $150 to $250. As with electrolysis, the hair's follicles are targetted in this process where the heat from the laser's light energy destroys them thus preventing the regrowth of hair.
